Neurosparkly mum of sons (3 ND) Servant of pets. Reader of books. Knitter of things. Explorer of the uncanny. Reclaiming my inner goddess. Teacher in FE. Kindness is magic.
We knew this day was coming soon but it has still devastated us all. Sherlock crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning at the grand old age of 13 1/2 years old which is a good innings for a rescue greyhound. Forever grateful for the 12 years he shared with us. 10/11/2011 - 09/07/2025 ❤️🌈😢

Visited the monthly Artisan Sunday Market at my local community forest centre. Treated myself to a beautiful hand carved wooden crochet needle with interchangeable hooks. Also couldn’t resist a hand carved wooden penguin, a lavender sachet and a Purple Passion plant in a gorgeous hummingbird mug.

Rather proud of myself but putting my new bin store together today despite the blister on the palm of my hand. Obviously these hands are too soft for manual labour 🤣

⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Rise by Ian Rankin: I love a police procedural but didn’t love it as a short story - definitely prefer a novel. Rankin still did a great job despite the limited word count.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Family Experiment by John Marrs: In an ever advancing AI landscape and reality TV obsession, John Marrs could well have predicted the future! A story which should fit into the Sci-fi genre feels scarily possible in today’s world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman: An intense, beautifully written story which left me emotionally exhausted. The themes of love, guilt and grief are woven throughout the lives of the central characters and the setting is skilfully and vividly brought to life by the author.

Day 1 of 4 days off work. After horrific week at work last week, I was feeling at my lowest ebb. Decided to do a bit of forest bathing at a local country park I’ve never visited before where there are Giant Redwood trees . Feel so much better for getting out into nature.

I adopted Sherlock, my rescue #greyhound, 12 years ago when he was 18 months old. In all the time I’ve had him, he has never attempted to sit on the sofa. Obviously, he’s decided that today is the day to try new things!

Finished season 3 of sci-fi horror FROM on Sky Max. Glad to hear it has been renewed for season 4.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me for Yellowface. Wanted to love it as much as others but didn’t. Maybe because the publishing world is not a world I’m familiar with or invested in. Maybe because I just didn’t care about the main character, Juniper Song. Perfectly readable story; maybe it just wasn’t for me.

Terrible photos, but I think that is Jupiter to the right of the moon. No matter how old I get, I’m still find the sky at night magical and beautiful 🌖🌠

Finished reading The Secret of the Brighton House by Cathy Hayward ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Joanne is pregnant following multiple miscarriages & IVF attempts. Her joy is short lived when family secrets come to light surrounding her birth & the reported death of her mother in childbirth. A tense & moving story.

Used up some stash yarn learning how to crochet the viral 6 day star blanket. Ran out of yarn so more of a lap blanket. Could extend it with some contrasting yarn if I wanted to. Still think I’m more of a knitter but it was good to try something different.

It took many years to find a way of doing Christmas which works for our neurodiverse family. Now we do it our way with no desire to conform to Christmas norms. Best decision ever.

A Christmas stocking I embroidered for my grandson. I’ve covered his name as it’s not mine to share ❤️🎄

Used scrap yarn left over from grandson’s Christmas jumper to make my very first adult crocheted garment - a cat ear beanie 🧶

Sherlock #greyhound had a 9am appointment at the vet for his annual vaccinations. Good news is he has put on a kilo. Rewarded him with an amble round his favourite country park.
