he's right! This isn't a boy's manga! It's a rom-com! This is a romance! Theyve got to stop pretending it's a gag manga and embrace what the story is— and that that isn't a manga you can make in shonen jump. Or maybe at all. It's almost kinder to end so abruptly, then have try to please everyone

as wild as it is to cancel your manga one chapter into a big cast shakeup, "boys manga is dead!" and the subsequent teasing gekijirou does about hibari and kousaku being "romcom people" IS a really good and interesting conclusion to the meta-plot about the manga's identity as a shonen piece

Stop!! Hibari-kun is so singular, from the way it insists on never stopping the gag transphobia, to Hibari's constant strength in the face of a world that cannot understand her. There's nothing quite like it
