Just watched: Muppets Haunted Mansion (2021) - A little slight compared to other Muppet productions; but still a great fun Halloween time. It has a sweet little message. I wouldn't recommend it as the first Muppets flick by far, but I do recommend it

Just Watched: Wolf Creek (2005) - yikes this is vintage early 2000s sadistic terror. It's cruel & bleak. It's well made but not very recommendable. Nothing to latch on to. I'd rather watch House of a 1000 Corpses or, more similarly, Martyrs cuz they have a message. This is for exploitation fiends!

Now watching: Incantation (2022) - I can already tell this is a good one!

NW: The Body Snatcher (1945)

Just Watched: Memories (1995) - all three segments are phenomenally animated. The first one is the most poignant & "scary". The second the most goofy & perhaps a tad overlong. The third one the most bleak; very 1984-esque. Definitely worth watching!

And my ratchet screenshot of further thoughts on the other place. In short, this is: We Have PG-13 Terrifier At Home. None of the polarizing extremity or jank of Terrifier but also nothing to latch on to either. Just. Movie.

Now watching: Clown in a Cornfield (2025) - I'm 30m in & I'm going to tell you rn that this is EXACTLY what you think it is. I feel like this was written in a script writing class & adapted from a template. It hits every comfortable beat you expect it to & it's made competently.

NW: Sleepy Hollow (1999) - a rewatch but it's been a very long time

I watched some movies lately and lazily only posted it on the other blasted app, but also want it here, so without further ado: 1. Childs Play: A+ 2. Pale Blue Eye: Welmed. 3. Spirits of the Dead: good except Toby Dammit by Fellini which was S++ tier

The Sting is an amazing movie, with a fantastic ending, and some of the best card magic on film, extant!

In honor of Redford (RIP) check it out!

Wow, I also totally forgot that literally this week I watched 28 Years Later (2025) Does that not tell you a lot? Pro: the OG digital cameras used were super nostalgic.

Almost forgot, also watched: KPOP Demon Hunters (2025) & Urban Legend (1998) KPOP: Really great, lived up to the hype. Great music & animation! I recommend it! A little basic in plot. Urban Legend: Eh, kinda fun. If you like Slashers this isn't Scream but it also isn't bad! Multiple false endings???

House by the Cemetery (1981) - Fulci makes a haunted house movie. I find these movies comforting. Not a lot of thinking needed. Loads of bonkers creative choices. Kinda goofy & very gory! As soon as I said Fulci you knew if this was for you!

I Saw The TV Glow (2024) - Amazing, S+ Tier. This was impressive. I really really really liked this. Nobody has better taken that buzzing isolated internet fueled malaise to these professional heights. People have made creepypasta movies etc but this is like poetry 1/2

Crimson Peak (2015) - I did not like this. I'm a huge Del Toro fan & this was a big swing & miss for me. The MC woman completely loses all verve & agency once she sees Loki. Dumb. Also the plot was so obvious I felt like they must be prepping a subversion of expectations. Nope. Very disappointing.

Haunted (1995) - this is BEAUTIFULLY shot. Great setting, gorgeous cinematography, wonderful costume & set design, very good fire practical effects. Not a great movie. The MC is overly smitten to the point of idiocy. It's repetitive & feels overly long. Ending feels like TV Disney Channel slop.

Nosferatu (2024)Amazing! A very very worthy addition to a pretty stacked canon. This is a personal "fault" but I have seen basically every Dracula/Nosferatu movie and this was a pretty darn straight adaptation; not super fresh feeling to me but it was VERY good! Could have been a smidge scarier too.

The Brood (1979) - Oliver Reed is PERFECTLY cast. The movie kinda meanders and if you're paying attention the plot twists are telegraphed. I think Possession (1981) is the better more enigmatic movie around a similar plot. That being said this is probably much easier to ken & still really good.

Double feature with the 2005 Pride & Prejudice! Pride & Prejudice & Zombie (2016) - this starts out really surprisingly strong, then loses a lot of steam, and limps across the finish line. Big zombie fans, P&P fans, you'll get a kick but this turns into a Second Screen kinda movie by the end.

After a very listless attempt to find a movie, and a few false starts, I guess I'm celebrating a late Christmas in July with The Stalls of Barchester (1971)

Re-watching Sorcerer (1977) - a fantastic film that has you on the edge of your seat the entire time! Plus, a killer soundtrack from Tangerine Dream. I love Blank Check movies that are destined to be cult classics because of their uncompromised vision. Check this out for sure!
