I just added a sweetbay magnolia to my native garden. Excited to see how the wildlife reacts.

Using a lamp post for support works well, too.

Well done! You are lucky to have so much room. I just have a suburban property, but at a smaller scale I do the same. I use two bottoms for one container so the seedlings have a bit more room to get some size on them before transplanting.

#nativeplants Remember the Monarchs. Plant milkweed! This photo shows Monarch cats on Swamp Milkweed. Milkweed is the only plant that Monarch caterpillars can eat, so it is an essential plant for any native plant garden.

Salad greens containers from the grocery store. Two bottoms makes one seedling container. Worked great!

This: I use the bottoms of salad greens containers from the grocery store. Just cut or punch holes for water and drainage. I punched holes for twist ties to hold the tops in place, but I have since seen binder clips used and that is a better idea, I think.

#nativeplants Photograph of native Downey Wood Mint plants blooming in my pollinator garden spring 2024. Often called Pagoda Plant. Does not spread underground like other mints. Pollinators love this plant. Blooms May-June, in zone 7b. Grows 2-3 feet tall. Virginia, USA
