WH40k fan (especially Horus Heresy) hampered by my inability to paint.

Lover of 40k novels, sci-fi, and romantasy. I buy LOTS of ebooks, so please feel free to recommend some!

When it comes to books about brooding sexy vampires (or brooding sexy mummies, for that matter), the bar is not very high.

Go right ahead! I'd be honored!

Double epecially that it's handled almost offhandedly, too - "some of your fellow soldiers are women, now here's 50 pages about tanks".

You do touch on that chapter later in your paper (and I agree with you about the supplements!).

The contrast in the original game just always really jumped out at me, especially given the time it came out and the theme/subject of the game.

Regarding the paragraph about the "militarized masculinity" of games like Twilight 2000, it always struck me that in the first edition of the game, the first page of the Character Creation chapter highlighted that women were frontline combat soldiers in the post-apocalyptic US Army.

That specific video is from this past August, but she also gave an interview to CNN in July where she described the same thing.

😊

And if I can be a dork for a moment, "Crafting Heritages, Cultures and More" looks like exactly my jam when it comes to RPG supplements, so thank you!

The Horus Heresy books don't have a lot of fist-pumping "oh HELLS yeah!" moments of awesomeness, but that one definitely counts.

For me, it's the Salamanders (because Salamanders), and also the Space Wolves because they're just big fluffy doggos.

I miss when my cats would curl up on me in fall and winter. It's the best thing ever when that happens.

One of my cats in particular HATED the cold, and would actually sleep under my blankets with me at night.

They had an entire long-running mercenary unit named after Buckaroo Banzai himself.

Those things have been part of 40k forever, though. Magnus trying to warn the Emperor of Horus' treachery and getting punished by the Space Wolves being sent to raze Prospero was described in the original Codex Chaos for 2nd edition, back in 1996.
