The new highlight of my career so far. I've been volunteering remotely with flamingo data for a while. I finally had an opportunity to assist with flamingo banding in Mexico. The birds are banded with yellow alphanumeric bands so we can resight them. *All birds banded under proper permits.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of not banding just one, but two yellow-throated warblers. I didn't quite realize how rare they are to band until I talked to those who trained me. Still feeling the "bird high". All birds banded under state and federal permits.

There is nothing like a Kentucky warbler to brighten your day. This is a breeding male in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio. They are an amazing bird to see.

Over 30 birds banded today.

All birds banded under federal and state permits.

Today was my first time banding an Orchard Oriole. This female is breeding in the heart of Columbus, literally near downtown. All birds handled and banded under federal and state permits.

New bird feeder bird for me: catbird. I've never seen one before at a bird feeder. So proud of my cheap, suet and setup. #birdfeederbirds #catbird #breedingbirds

Hooded warblers have, in my opinion, one of the best songs. I think it sounds a tad sassy and appreciate that. This is a breeding male at my newest banding site in Hocking county, OH. Striving towards a MAPs site, and this bird was a great start.

Wilson's warblers are always a treat to see. This particular rural site is always a surprise to bird. You never know which species you will see there. Part of the beauty of migration.

Shout-out to PattyeBakes Cookies in NW Ohio for making my son's first birthday cookies. The nature nerd in me picked a duck pond pond. www.pattyebakescookies.com?fbclid=IwZXh...

Migration is underway, even though we haven't had a spectacular "fallout" yet in Central Ohio. But it's great to already hear and see birds that are setting up breeding territories, such as this Common yellowthroat. All birds handled under federal and state permits. #birdbanding #avianbiology

The cool thing about having a fancy nest box camera is that you can watch in real time a bird build a nest. This house wren had a showing of the new house every day for over a week before they put an offer in. 😂 #birdfy #breedingbirds

Migration is in full force. And one of my favorite parts is seeing cool species in unlikely places, like this yellow-breasted chat in the city. It truly is the best time of year. (All birds banded under state and federal permits.)

Going from being able to run any distance I wanted from 1 to 26 miles to not being able to run without some sort of pain has been hard. And yes, I've been in PT since 6 weeks PP.... Just wanna run stupid, long distances while listening to Pod Meets World. 😂

Only slightly obsessed with #finch. But there's worse apps to be obsessed with.

For those lucky ducks in the Florida panhandle, a flamingo is back at St. Mark's. After a pretty long break of no sightings there. Such a charismatic, yet somewhat mysterious species. #flamingos #saveourwetlands

Hello, all. My name is Anne and I study birds, passerines and flamingos. (You read that right) 🦩🐦 Flocking to Bluesky with all the others. Let's give this platform a try! (All birds are banded under federal and state research permits)
