Not read much on effective mask wearing then?

This is Violet’s actual speech. Obvs, it’s not about mask mandates at all. That’s just the Daily Fail trying to put their dreadful spin on it. bsky.app/profile/luck...
“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

Can I just flag up Violet Affleck at the UN clean indoor air meeting yesterday in New York? The Daily Fail did this poll which has backfired brilliantly on them: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...
Should people have to wear face masks in medical facilities?
Violet Affleck, the daughter of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, has now advocated for the return of mask mandates to help protect the vulnerable, during a speech at a UN event in New York.

Study from the Netherlands. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

'Paediatric Long COVID (PLC) is a heterogeneous condition, which can have a substantial impact on daily life of children and adolescents.'
So, why aren't @ukhsa.bsky.social warning parents of this ongoing risk to our children?

Regular listener here :)
When you get a spare hour, can you please pull this report to pieces?
It is beyond a joke that these reports are churned out which gloss over the ongoing impact of the ongoing global pandemic! 🤯

🚨NEW REPORT🚨
Huge increase in UK sickness absence.
The Health & Wellbeing Report 2025 found we now have record levels of sickness. Now 9.4 days per employee.
What happened in 2020?
A 35 page long report: guess what it doesn't mention as an ongoing cause of employee sickness?
September 11, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Oh, and guess which workers ARE NOT off sick more?
🥁
Those working from home 🤷‍♀️

'Over a third (36%) of organisations with employees working from home say that sickness absence rates have decreased as a consequence,'

Why are we all being so stupid?

Shall we all just stop pretending that Covid isn't making us a lot sicker?
Reminds me of the totally inexplicable 'attendance crisis' in schools (since 2020)
And the huge numbers of ppl suddenly retiring early (since 2020).

@SimplyhealthUK (who wrote the report) say on their website that 'Mental ill health is a leading cause of long and short-term leave' BUT, their info graphic in their report says the main cause of ST term leave is 'Minor illness' (78%) and there are multiple reasons for LT absence:

It is useful.
But of course, most are not testing anymore for Covid, so won't be able to answer if they have ongoing symptoms 12 weeks after their Covid infection.
Nor do people (including majority of Drs) know what 'Long Covid' includes, so are unlikely to say 'yes'.
Where did public health go?
