Brussels air quality today. “Horrible,” by official metrics. Obviously thanks to all the drivers of fossil fuel cars, vans and trucks. The roads are chock a block with them today. Aside from polluting the air, driving is the absolute worst way to travel in a city.

One mistake urbanists often make is arguing with people when they say they NEED their car for, frankly, whatever. Maybe they do, maybe they don’t, but I find the more effective point is that, if they have to or want to drive, it’s in their best interest that their neighbours can CHOOSE to NOT drive.
