So I mourn for him and for the person he never got to be. He’d hate that I was saying this, he never really liked me much anyway, but I mourn anyway.

Parents don’t need to have all the answers, don’t need to be perfect, but ought to be kind and humane. The stakes are everything. It helps to think of the reasons why a person is the way they are, what trauma informed their issues. In his case, betrayed by the person who was supposed to nurture him.

And it’s because of his mom. She was horrible to him. Abusive, at least verbally and emotionally. Made him feel like shit until he believed that and saw the whole world as a place where everyone will hurt you so you hurt them first. He never had a chance.
