Opinionated feminist bisexual anti-racist troublemaker. Suddenly into genealogy. A bit cultish about a few things. In Pittsburgh, where the air makes it hard to breathe, and from Perry, NY.
Something chewed up the jack-o’-lantern candles and one jack-o’-lantern

New York ironweed seed heads, and the often-skittish neighborhood cat decided to roll in our driveway and let me pet it and pick it up. (Cats should not be outdoors because they predate on birds, but I still want to say hello)

I am delighted that this delightful book has a 100th anniversary edition, but Penguin Random House’s invitation to “Never miss a new book by Anita Loos” seems a titch optimistic

It occurred to me the other day that my 21-year-old hadn’t had the decades of exposure to poppies and their connection to The War to End All Wars. I told him about my grandfather, the American Legionnaire, about war poetry, and Flanders Field. Turns out he took a course on WW1.

The poppies return.
