It's great advise. I started writing my first book specifically because I wanted to have it on my shelf. Everything else was icing*.

* The icing is currently paying my mortgage, so I'd say the reasons for writing the books changed somewhat. But I still try to mostly entertain myself.

I'll need to check out Ellipsus (always room for improvement!), but Obsidian stole my heart with an open format, back links, and plugins. It's really good for ttrpg session notes :)

I do! Keeping all my notes in Obsidian at the moment.

Some projects are written straight in InDesign, though, but only because they're one-page pieces that have to fit the layout down to a single line.

Unfortunately, in the glamorous life of an artist/illustrator/write/game designer, half the tasks are about as interesting as watching paint dry.

Sometimes, it's literally watching paint dry.

She wants to be an artist/illustrator/write/game designer, which we of course support, but I think she'll have her expectations more realistic after spending two hours trying to put together a small adventure and grappling with the question "But what if the players do X instead?"

Also, I'm just about to go with my friend to a massive art & craft expo and buy myself an exorbitant amount of wool and weaving trinkets I'll never use, so it's so far a perfect day.

Briefly put, we played Root with friends, an rpg based on the Root boardgame, and my character was a possum thief named Fish. Kids enjoyed listening and making up stories about him, so when we saw a crocheted possum plushy on a medieval festival stand he got instantly adopted, and now helps me write
