Mental health problems are rising in the working-age population, driven by material & economic insecurity. With more people affected by health conditions, the focus should be on strengthening social security & public investment not cutting health and disability benefits that hit the most vulnerable.

Northumbria researchers have joined forces with @ubilabnetwork.bsky.social to develop a new report proposing a pilot for a Basic Income in Greater Manchester.

If taken forward, the pilot would initially involve hundreds of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
