Makes a lot of sense.
I always love it when people get up on their high horse about this, because I do know lots of people who were Tories for decades and are now Reform and let me tell you, getting to know them is a highly instructive and helpful experience with many useful lessons. Give me a minute here.

Thank you @lukepiper.bsky.social for a good analysis of the problem. The detail behind the headlines and hysteria.
The debate around care visas in the political space boils down to people saying stuff like this - we desperately need people.

It's a good soundbite but...

A significant surge in care visas were issued since 2020 in response to sector demand and yet the problem of shortage has persisted.

Why?
BREAKING: “We will be closing the care worker visa for overseas recruitment” - Home Secretary Yvette Cooper

Don’t we have a desperate shortage of care workers?

As someone who has been following in detail everything the Labour government has been doing since they got into power, I am more than happy to say they are actually getting most things right, sorting out the foundations of what is wrong with our country.

And we are starting to see the effects.

Away at the moment and very much looking forward to seeing how spring is getting on in my garden wheni get home at the weekend. Loving these flowers we found on a walk in Switzerland as small consolation. Think they're a type of wood anemone? #gardening 🌱
