I suspect that he did not in fact think random hugs from kids were the best part of being famous, but my parents were very embarrassed and he wanted to make them feel better about be running off.

As a preschooler, I saw him in public and ran and hugged him. My parents apologized for the way I just ran and grabbed him and he said something to the effect that random hugs from children was the best part of being famous.
