This hat was probably convenient to grow all kinds of flowers on it.

Born #OTD 1811, John Bright.
A Radical MP from 1843-89, Bright was a champion of parliamentary reform and co-founder of the Anti-Corn Law League.

Dr Simon Morgan explored how Bright and other popular politicians in the age of reform became 'cultural phenomena':
From ‘People’s Champions’ to ‘Tribunes of the People’: popular politicians in Parliament, c. 1810 to 1867 - The History of Parliament

Today is once again grey and rainy, so I have gone back to this sunrise over our little English village from last November to cheer us up. Have a great day.

Happy memories of a Jane Austen ball in 2017 in Ansbach.
#ChandelierSunday
The setting will be more like a rural assembly room next Saturday night, but I bet the ball will be as much fun. It's the dancing that makes me happy.

I haven't been to a ball since 2019. Rummaging through my boxes with accessories, I am delighted in finding one labeled: "fans, shoes, gloves, tiaras" (plurals!).

Which fan is best for this fir-green dress?

Lost in cerulean silk,
Secrets wrapped in an
untold era,
Embossed in spiritual calm,
Gilded rapture casts a veil,
Crystals frozen in hearts of darkness,
A candle's final flicker,
Waltzing in a dream or reality,
Pages turn, seasons change.
