Unfortunately Bluesky corrupted the audio during the upload, for some reason! Sorry about that. The original video file was very quiet, but the audio automatically got amplified a ton after posting. Will try to avoid this happening in the future!

As a result, weirdly enough, a digital-to-digital transfer risks drifting further from the intended look than a slightly faded print or even a VHS copy. That was certainly true of Toy Story, at least until the team went back and forced the colors to be closer to the ones Pixar originally aimed for.

It's true that no print is flawless, even though 35 mm film from the '90s hasn't decayed a crazy amount in general. But these digital files were designed to be recorded on film and to have their colors change in the process -- not unlike you'd expect from designing a print book on a computer.
