Do you look to Bluesky for a temporary respite from real world events that can be upsetting and overwhelming?

I’m here to lighten your day with the help of the great characters and creators of the first seven decades of American comics.
My understanding from the outside, strictly as a fan, was that Jim respected Don so much that he wanted his help at Valiant at a time when veteran artists were finding it very difficult to get work due to the trend of “hot” 20-something (Image style) artists taking over.

Respect to Don and Jim.

God, yes. Exactly the age I was at the time. To me, that was the golden age of comics.

On a personal note, I bought my first Marvel comics at about the time Jim Shooter was beginning his tenure as Marvel’s E-I-C. Every month for the next 9 years, I read several books he either wrote, edited, or had a role in creating or approving. He was a giant to me, in more ways than one.

In addition to his historic tenure as Marvel’s editor-in-chief, Jim also made history in the mid-1960s as the youngest professional writer in comics history at the age of 14. He had an outsize impact on the LSH, for whom he wrote many unforgettable stories, introducing a number of key characters.

In fact, Mr. Garcia-Lopez (praised be his name) signed my dad's copy...

Don’t recall if Roy was directed to sideline the JSA. Young All-Stars replaced All-Star Squadron soon after, adding to my discontent.

I loved the art, but hated this story for many reasons. To me, the only upside to how Crisis ended was the opportunity to use the Golden Age characters in the rebooted mainstream (“New Earth”) DC series, & this totally dashed that hope.

Do they think he’s authoritarian because he and Green Arrow tangled over ideology in the JLA back in the late 70s? I honestly can’t remember because it’s been about 35-40 years since I last read those stories.
