Do you look to Bluesky for a temporary respite from real world events that can be upsetting and overwhelming?

I’m here to lighten your day with the help of the great characters and creators of the first seven decades of American comics.
Jim Shooter (1951-2025). Perhaps more than any other person, Jim shaped the course of Marvel Comics’ many successes from 1978 to 1987. Those comics helped shape the comics industry, and later, the movie industry, and they helped to shape me. Farewell, Jim.

Remembering MAD magazine publisher Bill Gaines, born on this date in 1922, with whom I often kibitzed during the 1972 EC Fan-Addict convention about the National Lampoon ... which resulted in this autograph atop Marie Severin's caricature in the program book as the weekend drew to a close.

Pulsar Stargrave has the power of a living star. Pulsar has repeatedly lied about his identity and origin. The only thing we know for sure about him is that he has style.

I loved those early 1980s Baxter paper deluxe reprints so much!

Great selection of stories, beautiful wraparound covers and gorgeous reproductions and colors.

A fun photo of comic book forefathers: Jerry Siegel, Superman’s co-creator and a Golden Age pioneer, and Julius Schwartz, who reshaped DC’s Golden Age heroes into a sci-fi-focused Silver Age. Their relationship appears friendly in this early 1990s photo.
