These conversations unfolded within a greater context, where we explored the problematic nature of documenting inside of our own bubbles and boxes. Seeking diverse perspectives is so critical to this work. We have to plan with intention here.

I spent today with seasoned educators mentoring student teachers through a year-long residency sponsored by the Montana Office of Public Instruction. We took a very deep dive into pedagogical documentation. Truly impressed by their interest in positioning themselves as learners within this work.

Today's conversation: Writing is not the production of written words. Writing is a deeply embodied, multimodal process, and when we fail to treat it this way, we fail to serve many young writers well. We need to MAKE and SPEAK throughout the process, not only in rehearsal. Writing is design. :)

I spent a piece of this weekend adding light and reminders to our outside spaces. We are a porch community, with neighbors passing by all day and evening. I hope it lifts us.

I worked from 5am until 4:30pm today. Then, I worked on my newbie practice sampler. This particular bit was truly meditative. I think I'm beginning to understand why some of you enjoy stitching.
