Writers, musicians, actors & other creators strongly oppose upending copyright law to favour AI companies, as suggested in the UK's AI Opportunities Action Plan.

As Kate Mosse says, seeking economic growth "cannot be on the basis of theft of our work".

Archives are precious, but most of the stuff I work with hasn't even been collected by archives! Defend your local archives. Expand them. Donate things to them. Preserve the things others haven't!

The UK government has created a public survey about copyright law and AI - it’s very technical, but please fill it in if you can

I believe this technology must be very carefully regulated, to ensure public safety and to maintain the rights of creators www.gov.uk/government/c...

So, it turns out that the New Year is a terrible time to launch a new series, because all the journalists and publicity people are off work...

BUT WE'RE DOING IT ANYWAY!

BBC You're Dead To Me, series 9, starts January 3rd. Shorter radio edits every saturday morning at 10am on BBC Radio 4

Would be really interested to hear what corporate/special librarians are doing with regards to procurement. Where there are preferred vendors. What influence have you been able to have.
Side note I'm a big fan of #betterworldbooks we've used them before when downsizing our library.
Greener procurement - how can we drive positive change via procurement? With speakers from #BodleianLibrary, #NHSEngland Better World Books on challenges of working to #NetZero, encouraging behaviour change and engaging supply chain to achieve this goal. #GreenLibraries

A repeat thought, Bluesky, & a Librarian told you this so it must be true 🤣

Audiobooks definitely count as reading (as well as listening). If you've played through an audioook, its perfectly fine to describe that as "I have read [x]"

All other forms of assistive software count as reading too 💙📚
