Dozens of #MeToo stories made the headlines in the last few years but the plight of women truckers was generally ignored.

The trucking industry often recruits women leaving domestic violence situatons or destitute for other reasons. It promises them a career.

Not only is it a well-funded operation, it also represents how dark money can give people who face mainstream disgrace a "second life" --- as long as they create "news" that suits the purpose of the wallets, they open.

This came out on the day Charlie Kirk was assassinated so people missed it. Read it. This is a well-funded effort to turn the information environment to their advantage.

On the massive rightwing media network that Trump #NIH director Bhattacharya is deeply enmeshed with.

Bhattacharya did an interview with John Solomon at JTN, smearing Bethesda Declaration signers. Rightwing money then pushed out that message. Read this one 👇

Ever since Obamacare was passed, GOP has tried to repeal it.

They tried a simple repeal, a skinny repeal, a repeal-and-replace, & shutting down the government. They failed each time.

Now, warns the CMO of Covered California, they may be on the verge of succeeding.

Recently Trump signed an EO to enforce English for truckers.

Trucking hires lots of foriegn-born drivers and it is bound to impact them.

At the same time, English fluency is a safety issue, which has been ignored in recent years.

David is an amazing editor. I learned a tremendous amount as an intern.
I was unfortunately let go by the Daily Dot this week after eight years and, by my quick count, editing over 13,000 stories.

People always talk about small sites that "punch above their weight," but no one did it with as small a team and as few resources as we did.
The Daily Dot—a site that helped define the internet era and was a launch pad for me and a ton of your favorite journalists like @marisakabas.bsky.social, @ericgeller.bsky.social, @asankin.bsky.social, @kevincollier.bsky.social, @williamturton.bsky.social, @kateconger.com & more—has been gutted. Now here's something odd.

Why did a PAC advertising itself as "America First" and promising to reestablish a Christ-focused ideology in America, attract 12 Hindu American donors, some giving large 5-figure donations?

There lies a story....

What does NPIC mean in this context?
Reflecting on yesterday's hearing, I'm sort of at a loss. The objections to SB 79 and SB 677 from Wahab and others ranged from factually incorrect to borderline incoherent. At root they're simply opposed to *any* new, non-subsidized housing. What do you do with that? calmatters.org/politics/202...

Conservative PAC took donations exclusively from Hindu Americans. But the money didn't go to any causes.

Instead, after the checks cleared, the PAC turned and trashed the community, calling one prominent Hindu a 'gremlin.'

A constitutional sheriff in northern Idaho shows what the movement is really about: an ideology of sheriff supremacy.

And shout out to David as a teacher.
Also shout out the Daily Dot's FOIA Internship program, the only media internship focused solely on teaching public records
