plus i strongly suspect that most of the worst parts of tiktok come out of the US (thinking like the subway surfer reddit spam posts), because presumably the creator programme pays the best there. so maybe we would have gotten some brief respite from that as well.

it would have been the first gap in total American cultural domination of the English speaking world since what, the 50’s? before that? it would have been cool to exist in that environment, even if just for a little bit
