Every single choice seems to have been made by somebody who has never actually used the software for its intended purpose.

Oh, back to calendars - if I want to see the list of calendars I've previously accessed, it's now hidden behind three separated drop-down buttons. It's not like that's saving space, it's just empty screen otherwise. The only reason I would be on that page. Gah!

They have hidden the button to make a meeting invite a zoom call. Two clicks rather than one, every time, and hidden as a small button at the end of the ribbon. Just cause.

Adding other people's calendars so I can find a time for a meeting with them, for example. It now takes, maybe three times as many clicks just to open up a calendar and look at it. And if I have more than two calendars open they don't all fit on the screen. Why?

Isn't that roughly the same number of people that get kicked to death by a donkey each year? Or sat on by a cow?

Honestly the main thing making me want to watch this now is... your repeated coverage of what a fascinating mess it could turn into. What have you wrought?

I tried a Turing fork instead once, but I couldn't tell if it knew the right note.

We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

Absolutely. "Maybe secretly you're special" is the driver for plenty of stories. Gets harder to avoid the ramifications the more you try to fill out the world.

You could almost admire George Lucas for tackling it in the SW Prequels...

There are gods and there are Gods, y'know?

Eternals is the one that really throws a wrench in. Endless, all powerful beings that see humans as mere resources, you say?

...pirates, you say?

Easiest comparison for me has been the Worst Witch books. Similar topic, similar age audience (for early HP at least). They're good kids books, but the relative thinness of the world really stands out. If you've had to read many books for 8-9 year olds, it's easy to see why HP landed so well.

Oof I'd forgotten that, it's been a good few years since I read or watched any of it.

I've wondered before if the kernel of the problem is that she did do a better job than most children's authors in building SOME kind of world, but then only half-dealt with any of the consequences.

I was going to reply to your last tweet - the general bemusement at Hermione wanting to treat house elves with dignity almost feels like JKR actually nodding towards this problem.
