'"There is no good way to say this" but to say this: AI is the antithesis of education. It is the antithesis of the future. As such, it is a kind of epistemological death, and I recognize... we have long been surrounded by such efforts; we are grieving already. And yet, we go on.'

He just got a trillion dollar package, and sure it's bullshit and imaginary but still, imagine inking a deal where you get a trillion dollars, more than anyone has ever had, and then going to your little computer and asking it to make a fake woman who pretends to like you. Weapons-grade cringe.

I first heard of agas watching Bake Off when that poor girl forgot to turn her oven on because they had an aga at home. I feel like I learned something about British culture in that moment.

I had always understood the UK to be a flawed but tolerant country, imperfectly living out its post-imperial identity with a more ethnically-mixed society than much of my home country. Instead, its political elites seem to be looking directly at the worst examples of US xenophobia for inspiration.

Getting to start this was my reward to myself for finishing my undergrad thesis in 2005. And it was an excellent reward.

If this was passed and I fell ill to the point where I lost my job, I would be deported, irrespective of my family. What the actual F are these people about?

It is simply to refuse to allow yourself to be sucked into a cycle of hatred. I have no idea what’s in Erika Kirk’s heart, and perhaps it is propaganda of some kind. But I had to put in a word for the tradition she is purporting to represent.
