I seem to recall reading that he was a relative of the late Stefan Cush, former Pogues roadie and singer with The Men They Couldn't Hang.
Not sure if that's true, but it gives a timely opportunity to remember TMTCH's classic rendition of The Greenfields of France, a poignant song for today.

My other thought was that you can easily over-state its significance. Two tone, for instance, was happening at the same time, but in very different places, and with a much more diverse set of origins. Both reacting to post-70s malaise and early onset Thatcherism, just different responses?

My immediate reaction after wandering round the exhibition was that it was all a bit superficial - everything was about being on show, being more extravagant or daring in appearance. But the scene that coalesced around it gave confidence / visibility to a wider range of creatives in various fields.

Photos show the outfit designed and worn by one of the extras in the 'Ashes to Ashes' video, and the vest worn by Boy George on TOTP, as well as issue 1 if ID magazine. There are loads more artefacts in the exhibition, as well as a recreation of the club where you can mooch to Being Boiled etc.

Quality review, Andy - this latest musical adventure is like one of those early '90s fractals, exploding in all directions and taking everyone with you while taking no prisoners at the same time. Saturday's show felt like NIN meet Jungle Brothers meet Josh Wink. Rave On.

Didn't SWR call it the best single Factory ever released? He might be right.

After the last of my grandparents passed away in 1979, my dad blew his inheritance on a SAAB 900 turbo. (This after a series of British Leyland rustmobiles). Incredible torque.
He also bought a couple of Volvos later, after a Citroën Visa had crumpled around me. No-one's getting mashed in a Volvo.

Before switching to Adidas in around 1979 they had an Admiral version which doesn't look like much now, but at the time has an air of Detroit Express glamour, at least to my young eyes

That's a great picture of Paul Canoville in Chelsea's 5-0 win, btw. A remarkable life.
Meanwhile I was full of hope in the summer of 1985, having seen Ian Baird bring some late season goals and muscle to #lufc's youthful promise; and singing Snodin jr Sadly not to be.

With the reverb turned up to 11, their sound is kind of a cross between Ladytron, Section 25 and a speeded up Cocteau Twins. What's not to like? With extra added Ladykillers for the lols.

Yep, love it. It's different, but still quality. That takes some doing. Me and @johnnygiles.bsky.social are off to the Barbican show on Saturday, can't wait.
