Football (LUFC) - music - film - tv
Just back from taking the car in for its MOT and service. Walked home via the brook. Plenty of moorhens and pairs of mallards. But few things cheer my soul as much as seeing the little egret, which seems to have become a fixture recently. Maybe it's the famous all-white strip.

No idea whether Palace and Forest drawing is good, bad or indifferent for #lufc. On balance, would probably have preferred Forest to lose. Kinda think when Palace get JSL in, if he really is a £43m striker, and Wharton back, plus being 3 points ahead, they're likely to finish higher. Who knows?

Back at the station and just caught up on everyone's take. A lot of sense - Arsenal have spent several years and a billion pounds assembling that squad. They have more quality in every aspect of the game, and they work bloody hard too. GD took a hit as predicted, but no #lufc injuries. Move on.

Stats can be misleading. Memories even more so. I thought we'd lost more or less every game against Arsenal in the 21st century 4-0. Turns out that's not quite the case. Over the last 30 years #lufc 's record against Arsenal is P32 W5 D5 L22. Arsenal have scored 3 or more in 13 of those games.

Slightly bored by this Champions' League scuffers as-it-stands frenzy. But is there an #lufc angle? If one of the teams we're due to play in February drops into the play-offs (Chelsea? City?) might that give them a midweek game before our PL match? Or is that wishful straw clutching?

We're now four wins away from 38 points. OK, twelve draws. #lufc

Just back from accompanying Mrs L to the pub to watch the Newcastle-Villa game. Reminded me of the #lufc game with Villa at ER. They weren't great, they didn't dominate. They just had enough class to score twice and stifle the home team. Pft.

What I want to know is how many toffees the Everton Toffee Lady actually threw to crowd? A few handfuls? One for everyone? Or something in between?
Apparently the basket carried about four pounds of the things, which would have been, what, several hundred? More? #thesethingsmatter

Wild game at the Abbey this afternoon. One of the worst first halves I've seen in a long time left Cambridge a goal down to Tranmere.
Second half was one of the best, basketballesque mad to-and-fro, ending up 4-2 to Cambridge.
Shane Lavery's goal registered 8.2 on the Yeboah scale.

Tammy Abraham always impressed me - didn't he score a winner for Bristol City against #lufc Elland Road one year, pre-Bielsa? His goals record is pretty consistently good, he's mobile and adaptable. If Villa can get him for £18m that looks like good business to me.

A tough month coming up for #lufc. But after the end of February we have ten games left and could realistically look at picking up points in most of them, on current form. Injuries permitting.

Nine minutes? 102nd minute goal incoming. #NewMci

Went to see my folks this afternoon. My mum will be 90 in March. Her opening comment to me today: "Why doesn't he play Gnonto every week?"
Meanwhile, my dad recounted the exact route his dad used to drive to Derby in the 1940s & '50s, in painful detail.
Other topics: broadband, cake, cold meat.

Having been at Blues win at Cambridge on Saturday evening, it did cross my mind yesterday that we could get them. They're not great, it's winnable, but it will be another hard grind with defeat very possible if we don't play a strong team. #lufc #facup

Back home from Derby. Can't remember the last time I saw #lufc win away in Cup. Might have been Tommy Knarvik game at Portsmouth in the late 90s. So, the final result was very welcome. But we learnt that our squad is very shallow really. Someone who can cross, and take corners, would be handy.
