Question about Harrell hiring Adrian Diaz and allegations that he runs a "boys' club." He says no mayor in history has had to terminate a police chief but him and that he didn't hire Diaz, he was "handed to" him. In fact, Harrell encouraged Diaz to apply and hired him.

My understanding is that many of these countries have government owned public construction corporations, so knowledge stays in-house, bids aren't inflated, and there's no corner cutting in the rush to the bottom. Once upon a time we the Army Corp of Engineers (weird that it was military of sorts).

Can someone explain to me why she'll face off against Harrell at all, didn't he lose the primary? Or is it that the top two (regardless of party) advance? I don't get our primary system at all.

We need quieter sirens and dimmer lights on Seattle’s new emergency vehicles. So ear-splittingly loud as a pedestrian that my watch warns about it, and so blindingly bright I see spots for minutes afterwards. It’s out of hand.
