Finally saw ‘I Swear.” Absolutely superb, uplifting stuff.

I know it’s not a fashionable opinion to defend the use of huge amounts of land for golf courses. However, cooncil golf is/was basically a different sport from posh golf. Been taken away, almost completely, from the working classes. It shouldn’t just be for folk with a few quid and tourists.

Generally been something I think the SNP has acted in good faith on, but until John Swinney is unequivocal about Rosebank then there are huge lingering questions over whether the environment and climate crisis has slipped way down the pecking order.
The Scottish Government has published its long-awaited Climate Change Draft Plan – setting out 150 different actions to tackle carbon emissions.

We have outlined the key points👇
What are the key points in Scotland's draft climate change plan?

He’s going to have to be clear on this. The boiling of the planet is not an insignificant issue for a decent chunk of the electorate. Can’t go into May dancing around it.
Does the Scottish Government support or oppose the proposed Rosebank oil field?

Nicola Sturgeon & Humza Yousaf accepted the climate science and opposed it, but I just asked John Swinney twice what his position was and got no clear answer. A sad retreat on climate commitments.

Made the mistake of watching Debate Night. The way people talk about fellow human beings would make you sick.

I know you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead, but absolutely fuck that when it comes to Dick Cheney.

Every neighbourhood should have a cat mayor. Brilliant wee bastards.
Sad to hear that Freddie the cat, AKA the Mayor of Shawlands, has gone over the rainbow bridge at the grand old age of 20. A kenspeckle figure around Skirving St, he'd bless the chosen few by selecting their car bonnet or roof for an afternoon snooze.

Love Oasis and What’s the Story? but the one thing that always comes to mind when Don’t Look Back In Anger comes on is poor old Geordie crossing the Tyne Bridge in Our Friends in the North.

In the run up to the election? Shocked and stunned, I tell you. The amount of press coverage it gets against the number of people actually purchasing it is going to be one of the most skewed events in history.

Seeing people lose their seats in daylight just isn’t the same. Like the sun shining during a Champions League final. Completely against nature.
Massive change for next year's Holyrood election: there'll be no overnight count. Votes to be counted on the Friday instead.

imagine how much the person who chose the picture here must dislike Kevin McKenna

There’s a smashing big mural of John Hume in Derry and I’ve always thought the big wall looking down from the side of Marlborough across from the Langside Halls would be a class bit for a MacLean one. Would put the story right in the middle of a busy Southside area as well.

A statement saying both that they haven't decided their policy on indy yet and that they're the only ones who'd deliver it correctly at the same time is actually ridiculous
A huge Your Party rally in Glasgow on Friday — and three new councillors defecting from the Greens to mark it! ✊🏽

Independence is a question of democracy: our Scottish members will choose our path.

Your Party is the only party that would actually deliver independence with socialism at its heart.

Reform losing an election they were expected to win and the left candidate absolutely romping the Irish presidential election. Just the dimmest, slightest glimmer of hope starting to show.

Deeply, deeply unserious people.
Ellie Gomersall was a Greens candidate until this morning, when she quit and defected to Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana's Your Party. Here, she explains why independence inspired her big move

A fantastic time for splitting the vote from Your Party. Really ideal. Nobody will want them to eat into the Green vote more than Reform.
A new poll puts us in second place!

With 7 MSPs we delivered free bus travel under 22s, ended peak rail fares, banned new incinerators, increased taxes on the rich, scrapped school meal debt, introduced rent controls, and much more.

Imagine what we could do with double that. 👀

I’m sure these champions of grass roots community politics and local democracy will be standing in by-elections, now that they’ve changed platforms from the ones they were elected on @danhutchison.bsky.social @seonadhoy.bsky.social?
Three Green councillors have apparently quit to join Your Party...

The Corbyn party now has its first councillors in Scotland.

I don’t think this can be underplayed. Lots of plates shifting, but it’s a decisive win for progressive politics over hate. This is not the narrative that has been consistently rammed down our throats by the media.

Devastating for the families, but wholly unsurprising. It was never going to be anything else. The British establishment will always protect their own. You can get away with murder if you wear the right uniform.

This mob are going to get increasingly more annoying. Scotland has an alternative on the left and adding a faction will gift Reform more seats. With the Greens polling well in England, you could argue similar there. They need to lose the Corbyn obsession.
