The bowl of ramen I had recently at Misoya Hachiro assaulted me with flavor (in a good way)! It was on the heavier side, but delicious and great for a winter day. I’m a sucker for black garlic oil, so I need to find more places that use this ingredient. #ramen #tokyo

I happened to be in Tokyo and stopped by Honpoji Temple in Asakusa to see the Hanashi Zuka seen in Chapter 139 of Akane Banashi!

I recently went to Aoshima Shokudo, east of Akihabara Station. Originating from Niigata’s Nagaoka City, the ginger shoyu ramen is a perfect bowl of ramen for a cold winter’s day!

Be warned - There is ALWAYS a line.

This year’s Takumen Ramen Awards are out! There are many famous shops I haven’t been to yet, but I have to recommend the shio ramen at Motenashi Kuroki to anyone who hasn’t been! #ramen #food #japan

Dinner at a local sushi place for a friend’s birthday. I love living in a seaside port city.

This is the deluxe duck shio ramen from Menya Jojo in the Kuramae neighborhood of Tokyo. The duck broth was excellent and the duck chashu was perfect! I love the combination of duck and ramen 🦆 #ramen #food #tokyo

The limited-time “Super Sanma Niboshi Tsukemen” I had last month at Tsukesoba Endo in Hachinohe. Their hours can be erratic, but I finally managed to go. This was definitely very fish-forward, but the roasted/smoky notes balanced it out nicely. If only it was a regular menu item… #food #japan

New video up! Gyorai uses coffee siphons to extract the maximum amount of flavor out of katsuobushi into their ramen broth - very unique and fun to watch. Plus: Very tasty.

This miso ramen is from Uzura near Musashisakai Station in western Tokyo. The blend of miso in the soup results in a light but complex flavor, and the fried burdock root topping added a nice crunch. But what got me were the housemade noodles! #ramen #tokyo

This is chicken nanban from Himuka Shokudo in Akihabara. A a regional dish from Miyazaki Prefecture, it’s juicy fried chicken soaked in a sweet and tangy sauce and topped with tartar sauce. If I lived in Tokyo, I’d probably be here once a week🤤 #food #tokyo

This is the shio ramen with truffle oil at Mumei (無銘, Nameless) near Kanda Station. The chicken-based broth was light but flavorful, and the toppings were quite unique. But I can’t get the taste of that truffle oil out of my head! I need to go back! #ramen #tokyo

During a recent trip to Tokyo, I was able to visit Mori Kaoru and Irie Aki’s gallery at the Setagaya Literary Museum! Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go reread A Bride’s Story…

As a huge ramen lover, I want to start by talking about Menko Ushio. It’s a modern take on tori paitan with unique toppings and it reminds me of carbonara! I lovingly refer to it as “the most Italian bowl of ramen you’ll ever have”🤭 #ramen #tokyo
