What gets me is that after being inspired by logic, science (and Poe) to write Holmes, he took that break to pursue spiritualism and investigating fairies. It's fine, it's also just funny.

I knew this tangentially bc a dissident writer I followed and knew for a long time mentioned they were reading Dworkin a couple of years or so back, and not long after they fell down a TERFhole and went full crank right after that. In hindsight it was an early warning.

I remember when the word 'content' in that sense first appeared in the ad/PR biz during web 2.0, and how quickly the general pop started using it.

I think we are years and years into the process of 'content' becoming normalized, to the point that only the most egregious 'slop' films stand out, even to comparatively aware viewers.

It's so depressing how easily people were taken in by the misinformation PR campaigns. I'm Gen X, and Depp was iconic, but his addiction and domestic abuse were well documented from very early on, it's nuts how anyone could be like, Johnny, surely not.

I wonder if they keep GPT alive partly as a desperate reaction to workers taking power back during lockdowns, using digital tools to work remotely, and with more flexibility. If they can't control us, they'' replace us. They hope.
