Worth highlighting I'm watching a lot of NFL at the moment, trying to design a new NFL board game and doing research on historical games and also playing Pokémon TCG Pocket a lot. So, y'know...

OMG that is both amazing and old school, I love it! 😁

Don't be daft! These tech companies are ingesting data worth billions, they'll take cybersecurity very seriously. Probably...

Knowing my luck someone would vibe code a game that literally does exactly that!!

And given we're all volunteers I don't actually have a lot of control over people, so it's almost impossible to ensure someone doesn't build in game chat, that then leads to abuse, that then leads to me losing my house.

Possibly an excessive way of looking at it, but these days, who knows.

And people go nuts at me telling me I can't do that because I'm the guy with all the ideas.

So yeah, still got to figure out balance, but desperately want to finish the game I started. For my own sanity and out of respect for everyone else who's done work on it. It needs to have people playing it!

But here's the kicker...

I joined, I over stepped, I have great ideas coming from startup land and wearing many hats, corporate linear people don't like that, apparently, but then, theennn, I say "ok I'm going to stay in my lane"...

10 yard phase? Each hex is 2.5 yards? So my WR can run 30 yards but a CB and S can't catch him?

This definitely needs some padding out but (pun not intended) I think it's got legs!!

It's definitely more fun than I was expecting too!

Either rushing ahead or cutting across, unless you just make a WR have a 12 pace of course.

That said, you'd need a massive board basing this on hexes. My WR(7) easily got down field. You'd probably limit that to maybe a 6 with a sprint modifier on the dice or something.

How would you track each

WR on the right. Using card stats means all 11 dice rolls should be used, 1 for each player.

You could possibly assume things like O line only use card stat to move and dice to win push.

I think if you limit movement to just card stat and dice to engagement, you won't make those big WR plays
August 24, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Creating space for a potential running play.

But, the gap could allow a DT to slip through and get 1 v 1 with the QB so always move the QB early, and remember ball in hand so tackle stat has reduced effectiveness by 1.

By dice stacking though you have players who don't move, so I've got a dormant

Remaining dice could be used to allow the WR to run unchallenged to the end zone.

Like with CA, the offense line takes all low value dice to move forward and engage the defensive line of 4. Then you dice and card stat battle to decided a push back e.g. 2 v 1 (3+2+4+2) v (6+4) and they push him
August 24, 2025 at 2:58 PM
QB rolls an 8 for a successful throw, DE(9) engaged with OT(2) and the WR(7) catches but now we're out of dice moves so he drops for a 1st down.

However I'm using dice stacking here, if you limited to 1 dice per player + card stat my WR only would move max 12 UNLESS it's a catch, then all...

...if MF can get some budget and really put some dev effort into fixing bugs and online play, while it will never compete with Madden, it could be that solid alternative. Like PES to FIFA. Bad analogy maybe as one died a horrible death, but you get what I mean!

It really is a joy to play!
August 23, 2025 at 9:34 AM
And MF is just so much faster. Playing Madden felt like moving tanks around the pitch. But MF feels like football. The sexiness of that speed!

Graphically, and other presentation stuff, Madden is away ahead. And playing as Seahawks was lovely, as a semantic layer if you will, but...
