So, I made a thing with my nephew. Because I find spending money on dumb expensive toys and probably breaking some kind of trespassing law is a great way to acquire affection!
I also taught him how to use #davinciresolve as I figured that would be a good life skill!

Picked up the #Rlaarlo XTS P12 1/12 rally car and it's awesome!

Also, I stepped down as Company Director. Because of the Online Safety Act. Too much liability for a completely ill thought out project that seems to have not considered a) games or b) indie games - like how many fucking indie developers can afford a fucking team of content mods??

I am FINALLY getting back into game dev. Corporate life is A LOT!
It's been a tough few months for sure. It hasn't really settled down. I've been screwed over. I'm kinda trying to fade into the background and just earn my salary doing just my job.

I played some Madden last night. It really does play like ass. I couldn't put my finger on why I'm enjoying #MaximumFootball so much until I played Madden then went back to MF.
It's the physics engine. Madden is scripted plays. MF is reactive physics.

Tried generating hex grids using AI via GitHub Copilot, Unity AI and Bezi Sidekick.
Keep in mind this isn't difficult once you bother to learn it. And given AI is just regurgitating known code, this should be a breeze.
Sigh.

My favourite thing about running a game dev studio has been asking people not to do a thing and then watching them just do the thing I asked them not to do :/

Huh...it turns out there really are only so many times you can tell folks not to use AI art before you want to stab out your eyes!
And here's the issue with AI in games, and why studios can accidentally end up with AI in the finished product, it's because not everyone agrees, so they'll use it.

When they said AI is coming after your jobs maybe they didn't mean it would replace you, just that your company would run out of cash using it to find answers it's simply not able to give and then they'd lay off all their staff.

It's important to remember how naff Rocket League was in 2015. Rubber banding, crashing servers, none of the cool customisations we have now etc.

I think if you want to be successful in indie game dev, don't go and get a new day job right in the middle of the dev cycle. Totally and utterly destroyed my creative flow. And I've let everyone on the team down.

Ugh! Ordered a new passport as new job requires international travel. Totally forgot about blue passports! They're so flimsy, you could tear them. What a waste of time, effort, money and brainpower. But, sovereignty innit?!
