Part of Zula Presents Something Else

Blue Moss were excellent openers.

Roy Haynes "Hip Ensemble"
Some grooving jams here.

William Winant "Five American Percussion pieces"

Part of my RSD haul but not an RSD release. Interesting packing with thick screen printed cardboard and a wooden frame. Some interesting compositions.

The End "Allt är Inet"
The baritone guitar lends a different effect. One of two Gufsfsson/Jermberg projects that I got to see live in 2024.

Four albums from the year I turned 16

Spent a lot of time listening to this when it came out. I wonder if I'll be able to spot any more samples not that I've added a couple decades of listening experience.

Burial - s/t
Those early days of Hyperdub. Did not expect this to be pushed out it's own genre by the purveyor of honks and farts.

Ufomammut - Snailking
Dropped tuned to oblivion then the organ from Carnival of Souls will set you for an amazing drop. I remember the day I heard this at the record store, and the first time I saw them at Victo.

Carla Kihlstedt, Matthew Bossi, Shauzad Ismaily - Causing a Tiger (Victo 2010)
I know Ismaily and Bossi from their regular appearances at Victo and Guelph. Kihlstedt adds some vocals. Typical Actuelle mix of instruments, electronics, and samples.

Iva Bittova - Eviyan Live
Live from Victo in 2013. I will have to make a point of listening to every CD I've bought from merch tables. It could be a climb. I know I am not alone in having a fistful of these neglected CDs that were bought with good intentions.

Keith Jarrett - Fort Yawuh
De Drums is just one of those tracks. Great rhythm section.
October 28, 2024 at 12:35 PM
Keith Jarret "Arbour Zena"
A bit heavy on the strings and bit nice for my tastes. Some colourful work from Jarrett and Garbarek. Bought it for Charlie Haden he is more supportive here.

Canadian Hip-Hop rappin' about shopping at a Canadian discount grocery chain that identifies with yellow. It doesn't rival the 7-Eleven Slurp album but does go down like a banana smoothie. Checkout Brain Freeze by DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist.

Walter Zwolinski was in Brutus. Possibly modeled clothing for people who attend Blues festivals that have no Blues.
October 26, 2024 at 2:08 PM
This one came with a bottle of Scotch. Mostly Canadian MOR. The mastering of it is extra bright. Jimmy track is alright.. how much longer till the Sadies? Wait will you hear about the Zwol album.

Stanley Clark
Clark is the thin bass string guy. So I was surprised that side 2 is mostly upright bass. The second side makes the album.

Budos Band
Desert groove lead by a brass orchestra.
October 17, 2024 at 9:05 PM
My c# solution for 8. String to Integer (atoi) turned out a little better than expected...

Walter Murphy "A Fifth of Beethoven"
High production disco for nice people. Really, really, nice people. The only dirt is the remnants of cigarette ash and coffee stains left by the musicians. There are some moments though.
October 15, 2024 at 1:20 PM
Stan Getz "Communication 78"
Trying to remember where Bonjiur Tristesse was sampled. Solid all around.
October 14, 2024 at 7:47 PM
Collection Reduction: Just too much of the strings. I think it was the first time I listened to it.
