I want to dig through the web archives and figure out how exactly it became a truism among The Millennials that respectability politics are actually a bad thing. I feel like it happened by way of a broken telephone reception of Stokely Carmichael.

A lot of its uses are very real, but in the office they're not quite singularity? Like, "Hey, Copilot, can you remind me how to do a historgram again?" or asking Gemini to write a multiple-choice distractor because I'm on a time crunch.

It's hard to describe how quick and seismic the win on gay rights was. Like, I was an adult when WJC signed Defense of Marriage and I watched from there to Obergefell to teenagers being out in a small-town high school in the South. It was a sea change and it happened *fast.*

As deeply cynical as I am of the, "You are supposed to snub Yglesias, Klein, and Silver" approach On Here, one has to admit that the snubbing did touch a nerve with ol' Nate. (Not that it accomplished any left-liberal policies, mind...)

Is that the one with the guys who do old Warbirds who used to be called the Confederate Air Force?
Also: where are they these days? It's been... over thirty years since I last saw one of their air shows.

If it helps, put yourself into the headspace you use when you're putting on a show and getting in front of people.

Just tell him he's cute and that you'd like to get to know him! You can do it!

Approach him! Shoot your shot! Especially in a gym, men will often err on the side of caution so as to avoid interrupting someone's workout.
Do it, I believe in you!

I guess the issue is that Leave it To Beaver, Ozzy and Harriet, etc. aren't really on anyone's radar? Like, I guess you could go hunting them down via the internet, but they're not even on people's mind the way they'd have been as reruns when we were kids.

I am also just a tad bit salty that so many people who talk about The Power of Language don't know how to talk to the median voter.

I mean, you and I have both taught students how to do a close reading. (Hell, we've both done so at UTM.) And it's valuable! But I am begging my fellow over-educated white people to understand that we are absolutely an anomaly.

That's true. I was thinking of a normal U of T teaching load, not a Celebrity Professor teaching load.
