A story! Most of the 7 hours of canvassing I did today was educating people about when they could vote and celebrating the people voting for Zohran (yay to our amazing pep squad! we had a cow bell! we got cars honking for voters! so much fun!). But most meaningful was...

Mobilizing voters for Zohran and telling people opposed to him to at least not vote for Cuomo. If you’re in New York City, and you can volunteer in the next few days, do it!

While canvassing we've found many students don't know they're eligible to register here. So here's a PSA we should all share with students we know:

1) If your home is NJ or VA, sure, vote there this year!

2) Otherwise, register here for 2025 and you can register back in your home state for 2026.

David Adler, on Yom Kippur from the Global Sumud Flotilla, before he was detained by Israel:
From the #gazaflotilla, David Adler writes that “we are approaching interception at the onset of Yom Kippur—our annual day of atonement—which calls on us to reflect on our sins, and what can be done to repair them in the spirit of tikkun olam.”
From the Gaza Flotilla: “I’m Here Because My Jewish Heritage Demands It”
I hope that fellow Jews will join me in redefining their approach to atonement and move toward courageous action to put an end to this horrific genocide.

It is wild to me as a primary care doctor that for concierge medicine and direct primary care practices, panel sizes are 200-600, while for the rest of people it's 1600-2000.

Prior authorizations sound "rational" but are a bureaucratic mess.

They create frustration that reduces even care we all agree is appropriate.

And avoidance, delays, and interruptions of needed care is harmful and deadly.

From Don Berwick + @andreaducas.bsky.social:
Plans to test prior authorization in traditional Medicare are deeply troubling
Preauthorization is about to enter the lives of many seniors who have chosen traditional Medicare over MA, write former CMS Administrator Don Berwick and health policy expert Andrea Ducas.

This far right, McCarthyism bullshit by Columbia is a new low from an already very low place.

As an alum, I tell anyone considering training or working at @columbiauniversity.bsky.social to stay away from this place of moral and academic rot.

Not just young people!

I spoke with a few dozen of my Jewish neighbors in their 60s, 70s, and 80s who opposed Cuomo and supported Mamdani.

Some were moral clarity voters, others wanted a Democratic party that was fresh and energetic. Either way, it was great to see!

“I don’t want to be taxed $622 per year for roads. I want the freedom to pay twice that to profiteering private road companies, even if that means surprise bills and literal gatekeeping. No more communist roads!”
yes if we switched to single payer that would mean higher taxes

…which would (should) replace money we are already spending privately, but… less
