Doesn’t this reflect the high level of out-migration from parts of London because of the high cost of housing? Many primary schools are also closing.

I haven’t listened to long wave for years, but one advantage it had was its long range… so accessing BBC in the near continent, or more importantly, the Shipping Forecast when at sea out of FM range.
