We need a new political vocabulary all around. As a former "conservative" I've watched that term disappear into a vaporous cloud of contradictions. By some definitions I'd now be a "centrist," but I am more radical than some on "the left" when it comes to responding to the current crisis.

I have gone through a few painful culls in recent years. For me, it's not only parting ways, it's finding good homes for the castoffs. And seeing so many lines of inquiry never followed and projects never completed. Ugh.

I believe, even these benighted days, it is now clear to all that Dems wanted to make those 2026 insurance bills lower, but the GOP said, "no." Maybe I am naive.
