3x Golden Retriever dad
Today, my brother John found this Grade 1 report card for our Dad in 1941-42. The ”old man” struggled in reading & didn’t have a scribbler for 3 weeks!

See the expectations to parents on ensuring kids don’t miss anytime - and to accept blame.

Curious how that message would go over today?

Today is the 30th “meetversary” of my first encounter with @helenehholland.bsky.social.

I was paying a bill on my lunch hour in the Regent Mall and saw Helene’s girlfriends who introduced us.

Happy meetversary dear from your biggest fan! Photo taken today by my sister-in-law Louise Hachey-Cormier.

Team Holland has a number of friends who have been afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis. One of them we spent time with last Saturday. The disease is cruel and life changing. 1 out out of every 400 Canadians suffer from MS.

Happy to support A&W’s partnership fundraiser today. My night to cook!

Happy #WorldRadioDay. Shout out to my friends who worked in the industry & those still dedicated to making people smile, provide news & information. Grateful for lasting friendships.

May God bless @KirtSpeaksALS . A courageous, brave and determined voice for patients living with ALS. Raised a lot of funds and awareness. Sympathies to his family and friends. Between NHL stints, Kirton played parts of 5 seasons in Fredericton & 2 in Moncton (NB Hawks) - total of 350 games.

Fredericton broke a 80+year old temperature record Tuesday with a high of 35.7 degrees, topping one set in 1944. They have been keeping track since 1871. I’d gladly take a 10 degree day or 30 mm of rain to give everything a drink and fire crews a break.

Sad to read the passing of Riverbend Golf Club founder Rick MacFarlane. Sympathies to Charlotte, their family and the local golf community. Was a member at Riverbend during its opening year in 1992 when it was a 9-hole course. Family owned and operated throughout. Good people.

Two New Brunswick institutions side by each!

Chez Leo Restaurant and the single lane structure in Shediac Bridge. Gotta wait for traffic to clear.

Nice morning walk in People’s Republic of Marysville! Lots of bikers, some walkers, a few dogs and this family of four deer that Charlie was curious about.

Congrats to my better half, CEO-+CFO on a professional milestone.

This week Helene marked 35 years with @govnb.bsky.social. Her offices have been well served with her efficiency & competence.
Says she started work at age of 5!

Thanks to producer Megan MacAlpine & host Khalil Akhtar for having me on CBC NB’s morning show today about the @ncccnc.bsky.social 5th annual Big Backyard BioBlitz. Fun for all ages to snap photos of the plants and animals they see. Folks can learn more & sign up at backyardbioblitz.ca #NCCBioBlitz

Rest in peace Hulk Hogan. The passing of the Hulkster hits home. Saturday Night Main Event was a staple in high school along with WWF cards in Moncton. I hope my childhood hero Killer Karl Krupp (RIP George Momberg) “applies the German Claw to your head Hulk Hogan & collects $5,000!”

While in #YUL - spent time with a great man who set a high bar & standard for local news coverage in New Brunswick.

@garymacyul.bsky.social is still getting to the crux of things with his analysis on Night Talks in Montreal. Gary is a gifted storyteller with a fantastic sense of humour. #cdnmedia

Remembering Mom, Betty Holland who passed a year ago. Today at Sunshine Diner - Helene & I ran into a dear friend of Mom’s since age of 5.

Jack Brandwood and Mom also shared the same birthday - Oct 5, 1932.

[I hope to get to 92 & treated to breakfast😀]

Mom’s are the best! We miss her C’mon In!

Morning coffee for us on the deck.
Morning T-Bone for Charlie (holding it down with her bear paws) and listening to the birds.

Have a good Sunday folks!

Shout out to City of Fredericton crews. Continued rains created a hole on our street. One neighbour saw a tunnel underneath toward the storm drains. Good, efficient work fixing a small problem before it creates a larger, $ one. Thanks to Brent Grant & Steve Hicks for their action as well

Honoured to introduce Danny Williams & his wife Elizabeth at a news event in St. John’s. The former NL Premier has gifted 185 acres to @ncccnc.bsky.social at Salmonier River. A vital area for many species. Congrats to my NCC colleague Amanda Quarmby Bennett who negotiated this amazing land donation.

10 years ago, it was an honor to see RUSH in Toronto for the first of two shows in their hometown. Unfortunately was their final tour. Played songs from last album to first. The man seated next to me with his son drove 5 hours and was emotionally moved when they played Jacob’s Ladder.

Sad news about former Fredericton NB radio colleague Tom “Biff” Mitchell - lost to a tragic waterway accident.

Worked together at CIHI & CKHJ (now Bell Media). Very creative, cerebral guy- novelist & artist who took his camera everywhere. Wishing peace to his loved ones.

Sorry to read about the sudden passing of Marc Garneau, Canada’s first astronaut who flew the Space Shuttle & later became a MP for 15 years. Sad he dies without getting to enjoy much of his retirement.

I got this book for Christmas. Great read by a distinguished Canadian & servant. Rest easy, sir

Very sorry to read the passing of @jddumville.bsky.social - an absolute gentleman journalist in western New Brunswick. Such a kind person who served Carleton County & surrounding areas so well. Jim was always pleasant and first class. Peace to his family, former staff + many readers. God bless him.

Watching the House of Commons proceedings over the lunch with the Election of a Speaker. Charlie the Rescue Golden is new to @cpac.ca and is barking at the MPs telling them to get to work! She doesn’t like the bell sounding. #cdnpoli

Happy #NationalRescueDogDay! Have had 3 Golden Retrievers - two that were rescues.

We adopted Gus at 16 months old and he was the unofficial Mayor of the subdivision.

We adopted Charlie at 10 months old last Christmas via the NS Golden Retriever Rescue group. She is 98 cents short of a dollar!

Happy heavenly birthday to Mr. George Momberg . He’d be 91 today. His “German bad guy” routine as Killer Karl Krupp was legendary here in the Maritimes. Also played in @cfl.ca

A weekly fixture on ATV (now @ctvatlantic.bsky.social ) & in arenas around our region. #TheClaw #MrMcCluckCluck #AGPW
