Despite relaxed immigration/labor laws that allowed undocumented workers to help in the rebuild process — 81% of Hispanic workers said their employers treated to deport them while on the job site.

Hispanic workers worked an average of 9.5 hours a day for six days a week - which is the most out of any demographic.

The average pay was just over $16 for documented workers and $10 for undocumented workers.

28% of undocumented workers reported issues getting paid.

Of the tens of thousands of workers who helped in New Orleans’s rebuild the Berkeley Journal of Labor Law estimates 45% were Hispanic.

54% of those Hispanic workers were undocumented from Central and South America.

Other workers came from Florida, Georgia and Texas.
