Newcastle City Council closes roads in the vicinity of St. James's Park each time the footy is on. This means if you walk to/from the match you have more protection from cars than actual children walking to school do.

Cannot imagine what these families must be going through. This road is so dangerous but it doesn’t seem to matter how many times parents complain of this, cars come first. Hope some people in Newcastle City Council are taking a long hard look at their priorities and working out how to change this.

Raiding the Warm Homes Plan to find the money for a one-off cut to energy bills is utterly perverse when the Plan exists precisely to insulate homes & thus keep bills lower in perpetuity- this simply isn’t serious #budget2025

But while advertising and lobbying are so rampant, harms will continue until they are controlled. #Budget

Why does the Chancellor have such a blind spot for anything that might tackle the excesses of the aviation industry? #Budget

Since 2011 the fuel duty freeze has cost the Treasury £133 billion.

This huge amount could have paid for lower train and bus fares, better stations, safer walking, wheeling and cycling and much more!

Rachel Reeves will freeze fuel duty to dodge ‘political suicide’
The chancellor will also highlight a rise in the minimum wage and plans to cut energy bills as she tries to win over voters by focusing on cost of living

8yo (deadpan, without looking up from her book): “I think he probably already knows.”

This sort of position sounds somewhat justifiable, until you confront the question of who's actually doing the work to oppose fascism. Here in Newcastle, Labour have vanished from communities - and particularly those where Reform are slated to do well. The Greens are the only party opposing Reform.
And its your responsibility to vote for the best option - & any vote that (however unintentionally) puts fascists in power is NOT the best option

And I cannot believe that needs pointing out!

But it so often does - and don't get me wrong, that is not aimed specifically at you but a general point

The US "peace deal" was literally written in russian and then translated into English.

Any chance this actually gets reported in the US?
The Guardian points out that the document Trump is forcing Ukraine to sign was highly likely to have been written in Russian by a Russian. Then translated in a way not natural for a native English speaker.

Agent Orange is literally on the verge of doing Putin's work and killing a free nation.
