For those who donated to the work my friend, Kharkiv native Olga Shpak, is doing there and on the front lines: this photo is from the charity home for elderly city residents. A Shahed drone explosion nearby damaged the roof and cut the power. She’s using some of the money you gave for repairs. [1/2]

So I usually sit in a blue corner chair and write while Area Dog naps on his dog bed. But today, we put the bed outside to air out a little. When I came into my office carrying my breakfast, this is what I found.

Hooray! I've written 30,000 words toward my next book, SNOWBLIND. It's the story of the doomed Brusilov/Albanov expedition of 1912. In honor of hitting my writing goal for October, here's an overhead drone photo of the boat from our 2021 Arctic expedition to Franz Josef Land for research.

Such an excellent book by @jonathanslaght.com. I read an ARC earlier this year and am now delighted to have it in hardcover. You can buy one of your own on Election Day (November 4)!

In case it helps to see another example, here's a one-page description from my book ONE LONG NIGHT of how the rule-of-law vs. extrajudicial approach unfolded in Nazi Germany. (Obviously, being only one page, it covers a limited amount.)

Looks like zero visibility at Love Field here in Dallas. No planes taking off or landing. Pretty sure this is the opening scene in a horror movie.

After walking for three miles, the Memorial Bridge marchers have met up with the crowd at 3rd and Pennsylvania. Thousands so packed in there it’s hard to move through. But here’s a photo from outside the fishbowl there.

Stepping aside from the March for a moment, saw this very DC older Black gentleman on his bike with Commanders flags mounted behind him, blasting “Rapper’s Delight” on his boombox. African American Museum in background.
