I am absolutely certain that practices established in Europe, South America or Australia would never be recognized here.
November 27, 2025 at 7:58 PM
As far as I am aware, there is no "internationally recognized methodology" pertaining to environmental assessments. There are definitely established practices: when assessing mining projects, BC has strict stipulations for what are considered adequate assessments of potential environmental impacts.

I talked to farmers in Italy and they have the same dread about our changing climate, unsure whether their early seedlings will be drowned or their ripening crops will be parched. I bet farmers throughout the northern hemisphere, and possibly the entire planet, share the same anxiety.

Here's a startup that is developing a *completely different* technology from the O&G DACs and is achieving better performance, all without billions in subsidies.

O&G DACs are too fat and only viable with government subsidies. Startup innovation will kill them.

Airhive Launches One Of The World's Lowest-Cost DAC Technologies
Airhive has launched one of the world’s largest and lowest-cost DAC systems, kicking off operations at the Deep Sky Alpha site in Canada.

I wrote this poem the day after my life-saving surgery.

I pray that it works out the same for you.

President Trump is an unending source of inspiration to political cartoonists, a gold mine that extends at depth.

My complaint is that we are lumped together with O&G and this is neither correct nor justified. We will need expertise for scaling up, but it doesn't have to be from the O&G industry. Tesla proves this: they introduced EVs to North America and grew very large, despite not being one of the Big Three.
November 26, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Agreed. The O&G industry is masterful at lobbying and sucking up money from government.

However, I'm talking about something else
1. The need for carbon removal is parallel to the need for reducing emissions.
2. Many small companies are developing these technologies, separate from the O&G industry

This is going nowhere and I'm tired.

Congrats: you won the Intranet tonight.

In the end, it feels like you (collectively) are not part of the solution but part of the problem.
November 26, 2025 at 3:38 AM
dedicating themselves to find climate solutions and working on carbon removal - as advocated by the IPCC - in a large variety of ways, including DAC and CCS. I beg green journos to look at them and they either ignore them or they shit on them. It reeks of misplaced ideology and uncritical thought.
November 26, 2025 at 3:36 AM
Thanks for that. I read @amywestervelt.bsky.social's posts regularly. What frustrates me is that there is a segment of green bsky that is adamant about DAC/CCS and that refuses to see any nuance at all. It's all the evil of the oil industry. This fails to capture the growing number of young people

What IPCC has is Science. It is THE authority on climate science, whereas Dr. Jacobson is not. Please don't be idolatrous.

The USA is not the only nation on earth, nor is it a model for everyone yone else. It's not an argument to agree with. It's just a fact.
November 26, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Mr. Jacobson certainly has his fan club, but his views are inconsistent with the IPCC.

How is this different from what has been ineffective for the past 20 years?
November 25, 2025 at 7:35 PM
And how do you propose to end FF consumption ASAP?
November 25, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Great!

Kevin, the floor is yours: show us your solution.
November 25, 2025 at 7:22 PM
What choice do we have?

I think it will come, but not in a carefully planned way. When climate disrupt international trace and the global economy, then governments will turn around in a hurry and pour money into it.

I've seen a toddler suffering from whooping cough, from parents who did not vaccinate their children. It was a devastating affliction, with intense fits of coughing that depleted her strength. We watched with dread, unsure whether their daughter would survive or not.
November 25, 2025 at 6:56 PM
No one disagrees with you.

Ending FF consumption is the No. 1 priority, with greenhouse gas reductions of at least 90% by 2035-2040. The balance needs to come from carbon removal (CDR).

Yama is not the only CDR organization. It will take everything: from reforestation to biochar to DAC to mCDR.
