I skipped over an important conference in NY because of the arbitrary application of the law in the USA. I have been critical of President Trump, have rejected firmly his proposal to abrogate our sovereignty, and feel justified in worrying about being detained at the border.

Remembrance Day is one of the few public events that is well attended and most revered by Canadians, in large or small communities alike.

I made sure that these were not ornamentals, but self-established Garry Oaks, such as the ones growing on a rocky outcrop. I estimate that they began establishing themselves here around 2000. They would not have survived and established themselves if average and extreme weather weren't favourable.

One photo shows him as a frail old man, another as a confident, decisive leader.

With this "photo war" on social media, each side presents their favourite photo as proof to their point. There's no interest in any truth: only their viewpoint matters.

After visiting a few wineries in Tuscany, where sophistication and prestige are packaged for sale, it is nice to stay at a farmhouse for a change, where things are simpler and wholesome.

I'm traveling and needed a hat to shield my face from the sun. I easily found a cheap hat, with a bit of panache, that does this without being a ballcap.
