Can you tell which side of the hill didn’t get sun today?

I started this painting earlier this year but had only painted the cat and bird. I found it while sorting my works on paper and have been working on it off and on for about a week. It is gouache on hot press watercolor paper.

I’m trying to find the balance between “make progress on this embroidery” and “don’t hyperfocus so hard I end up with claw hands” and boy is it hard. #handembroidery #originalartwork (I am also salty that both JoAnn and my favorite small needlework shop have closed so I’m playing thread chicken )

My preorder of A Misfortune of Lake Monsters paperback arrived at my local indie yesterday and I picked it up today. I’m excited to read it! @nicolemwolverton.bsky.social

My order from Vanness arrived today and this ink from Van Dieman is absolutely amazing. It’s Shooting Star from their Night set, and the label does say it is fountain pen ink, but I like how it lays down using my Kakimori nib #fountainpen

I don’t usually buy Brew Week merch (except for kegs for kitties fundraiser) but this year had a dragon and I have been all about the dragons since I was a little kid. And look, Ma, no braces!

If I had a million dollars. I was working on this drawing when the idea for Wander Bread popped into my head

Not all who wander are loafs. I was working on a different drawing when the idea for this dropped into my head.

I drew this bird and fish vase on Thursday and colored it in yesterday. I love how these markers look like gouache.

“Thanks! It has pockets” I’ve been playing with paint markers in this incredible little sketchbook from www.pikarar.com/collections/... (they take almost everything without bleeding through and are very popular so they sell out within a few days every time she lists them)

I don’t have a plan for him, I thought he was someone’s indoor/outdoor cat (he’s very fluffy and other than an injury on his face he is clean and was friendly) and this heel turn has me flipping out because we need to get mama and the babies in sooner than I was expecting to now

I played with my pastel pencils today. Bruynzeel and Caran D’Ache are soft, Stabilo and Faber Castel are harder. I took notes so next time I start with the harder pencils before bringing in the softer pencils.

The rain has really brought all the leaves out on the tree covered hillsides. They are part of the Wayne National Forest in my corner of Ohio. I really hope this isn’t the last year I see them.

Documenting the Wayne National Forest while it’s all still here. This is the welcome center. Back in 2018 I was commissioned to make small quilt wall hangings for awards given to people who had done good works for the forest.

I needed to take a detour and pick up hand stitching again for a while. I had started this owl cat earlier this year but got tired of doing outline stitches on the wings. A friend had posted a mosaic stitched bear she was working on and that looked really fun so I decided to try that on my owl.

We had the plague to close out March, and my spouse is an accountant and was busy with both quarter end and tax season. Today we finally got to visit Cora’s Curiosities in Columbus, where I found this wonderful cow pitcher. I’m excited to make a painting of her.

Taking pictures and documenting what the National forest looks like near my home this spring. I don’t know that the trees will be here for next spring.

@redloribrighteyes.bsky.social sent me some of her wonderful paints in exchange for posting art I have made using them. The cheek and the hearts are where I used them on this painting. You can see the sparkle from different angles and in the closeup. They’re so much fun!

This is my Gizmo when he was a wee bebeh three years ago. He’s much larger and even more fluffy now.
