Based anecdotally on what I’ve seen online, most people won’t even get to that level of analysis, since many people seem to think Breaking Bad is a story about a guy who was good and then turned bad, as opposed to someone who was already bad and gained power.

Either that, or he was trying to recreate the magic of Not Like Us, which is a very tall task, even for the guy who wrote Not Like Us!

Tangential take: Alli Mauzey is the best Glinda, and that isn't particularly close either. I am, however, a massive Ariana Grande fan, and I am fully ready to coronate Ari as the GOAT Glinda once I see the movie

Similarly, Stephanie J. Block has the best version of As Long As You're Mine, because she's the only Elphaba who treats the song as an expression of confidence, sensuality, and comfort in her skin. Most Elphabas sing the song with a tinge of shame and insecurity. SJB is the only one who doesn't.

Contrary to how most Elphabas sing Defying Gravity, it is not a song that is sung by Elphaba to Glinda. It's a song sung by Elphaba /to herself./ Stephanie J. Block fully understood this, and it's what makes her version of Defying Gravity the most commanding and defiant.

Coming back to this to say rewarded was probably the wrong word choice. Acknowledged is probably a better word choice and a better normative implication
