Cleaning up Halloween decor & saw a cardinal jumping in my dogwoods but it didn't quite look like a cardinal, close but something was off. I couldn't get a photo but went online it & looked like this. Its not suppose to be here. They've been spotted in the area in but its rare. Meet Pyrrhuloxia
Pyrrhuloxia, looks very similar to a female cardinal. They are sometimes referred to as a desert cardinal and are native to northern Mexico and the United States in Arizona. They were last spotted in Ontario Canada in 2006 in West Elgin, Ontario. It looks very similar to a female northern cardinal. Slightly shorter and less colorful beak with soft grey brown feathers with red highlights. Very pretty bird. Thank you for gracing my garden.
