At the @broadinstitute.org, experts gathered to discuss the future of genomic data sharing. Alongside Anna Parker (ETH Zurich) & @theo.io (LSHTM), we introduced Pathoplexus.org and Loculus to members of @ga4gh.org. 1/4

3/ A major focus was a project, backed by ITpS & executed by the Division of Zoonosis Surveillance of São Paulo. In 2024 it used metagenomics to detect zoonotic viruses in urban areas, particularly in bats. #InfectiousDiseases

2/ The event brought together public health, animal health, and academic experts to explore ways to enhance health surveillance in Brazil. São Paulo’s experience with metagenomics was a key case study. #GenomicSurveillance

It was a pleasure to be a panelist in roundtables of The Nobel Prize Dialogue, an event held at UERJ, Rio de Janeiro. 🇧🇷

Together with the 2021 Nobel laureate, Dr David MacMillan, Antonio Fidalgo and Helena Nader we discussed the benefits of Science to society.

It was a truly unique experience.
