The school year's started here in NC! And teachers everywhere need supplies. A gift of $5 and a share so others can chip in too will let them know we're out here cheering for them. ♥️🍎

Not sure if I'm gonna be extra online for distraction, or not at all to avoid more overwhelm. But thoughts prayers vibes etc all appreciated right now.
(Not-unexpected but still very hard extended family situation that's changing rapidly; don't wanna post details to world but mutuals ok to DM me.)

We report: so it goes that we find ourselves again staring at the brightest source of light we could possibly find. We do this with the high hopes of finding a halo, or any type of iridescence; we are fully aware that if is there, we will likely not see it with the naked eye.

Things in the US are pretty much shit right now, but at my kid's school concert tonight a trans kid sang and played ukulele in front of the entire school & their families and absolutely fucking nailed it, to thunderous applause. Trans people and trans joy has always existed, and always will. ❤️

this is maybe trite at this point but it is in your interest to find ways to create things. basically everyone wants you to be consuming nonstop. making stuff, from cooking to photography or whatever, can help you feel more in control. doesn’t even have to be something you share with other people

Placed another round of preorders with my excellent local Malaprops Bookstore. As usual, got follow-up email confirming release dates, but also, the @trungles.com hype is running high YAY: "I am so excited for Angelica and the Bear Prince! His previous book, The Magic Fish was such a delight!" ✨📚♥️

Little lizard buddies are not what I particularly wanted cat to hunt, but, a) glad he spotted it sneaking in when I hadn't, b) he's already caught flies and crickets to earn my favor, c) the lizards are FAST, over the course of several pets I've never seen one caught.

The mental/physical cost of running errands is way undersold. I had a comparatively easy loop of four things, only two of which involved leaving car, and I am wiped.

Counting my blessings there's still yeast available - my preferred brand says Product of Canada so we'll see for how long. 😩 (Yes I tried sourdough when y'all did too, but couldn't get it working.) Gonna go bake bread on this rainy day with a kid home sick.

It dismisses the whole worry about the collapsing supply chain to a few trinkets mostly for girls, not mentioning daily necessities while knowing that women also carry a disproportionate share of the burden of shopping and stocking for their families.

ABOUT &$#+!? TIME. Thank goodness, this was such blatant garbage, but somehow courts have been so back-and-forth on it. (...and yes, this was an election that was held last November, that's what a snarl people can cause.)
Big in NC: Republican Jefferson Griffin has ended his efforts to overturn the state supreme court race he lost in November. He just conceded to Democratic Justice Allison Riggs.

Background: GOP judges in NC's state courts were agreeing toss thousands of ballots until a federal judge intervene.
Griffin concedes NC Supreme Court race, ending unprecedented effort to overturn election
Griffin’s concession puts to bed a contentious and chaotic saga in NC politics, one that has raised substantial questions about democracy and may impact the state’s elections for years to come.
