This is great! Years ago we built our own FAIMS and made available schematics for the RF inductor network and CAD drawings for the electrodes. I wish people did this more often. These days instrument designs and modifications are being done less and less in academic labs pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1016/...

It's time to introduce a new tag, probably it should be #obsoletedeviceinnovation . It is exactly what happens, when the research proces demands to do something extraordinary (at least at the department scale) but there are no money to purchase new equipment.
A quick look at the operation of the newly refurbished microtome, without its enclosure. Pressing buttons right on the exposed board feels oddly satisfying.

Have you ever wondered, what is inside a spincoater? Here's a peek at the guts of a Laurell WS-650. As someone, who's not afraid to get hands-on with equipment, I had to open it up to solve a small problem. In overall, the design and assembly are quite good.
