In Life Limbo..! intermittent and random.

January 2025: I may be back in the summer... Still adventuring, but alas no photography beyond the mundane, and digital at that...
As others have said, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Say what you want, as much and in a way that suits you at the time. Honesty, Integrity, Openness are all good values to have.

In Yorkshire - we are apt to call a spade a spade - sometimes others find that directness a little touchy :)

I'm from Yorkshire, I've grown to probably say more than required when I bump into folks after not perhaps seeing or speaking to them for a while...

My perception is that as British folk we're not very good at responding to what folks say rather than not very good at expressing thoughts.?

Staying on the mainland is not an option without great expense unfortunately.

All stocked up for another week or so now, sure it's not the last storm this winter...

So far so good. Made it to town, car started first time, grey and wet day though.

@itdm5j21.bsky.social - there has been the occasional boat, but when the wind is >=35 knt it's not certain, so I might leave but not get back....

Good luck with everything.

I'm no expert, just a 'still in the rabbit hole' user the last few years.

If you're confident with the terminal & following guidelines initially, you'll be up & running easily. If you're curious in how your machine operates at this level, you'll end up in the warren.

I you shouldn't go far wrong. Stick to Ubuntu to start, follow the install guidelines...

Either GIMP or Inkscape should make a good replacement for PaintShop, I use GIMP all the time, but have not used Inkscape.

``` sudo apt install gimp inkscape ```
Welcome to the 'rabbit-hole' of Linux.
Logs are safe in the woodshed. I'll have to go get the brackets though I think, not looked into it yet.
I've just been out to fetch in more logs for the fire, to find half the front of house gutters are demolished by ice build-up & snow sliding off the roofs. Most if not all the support brackets are broken and will need replacing.
The 'rough' final depth was around 10".
I don't think I'll be going anywhere for at least the next week:
Snow is disappearing fast, but still down to sea-level.
Depending on how old your laptop is and things like ram available, it might be worth looking at the XFCE version of Mint - it use far less resources and your old 'lappy' will run more reliable (faster).
The environment won't be as 'cool' and look a bit 1990's, that's all ;)
Stayed at a Backpackers place on Dundas Oct 2022. Normally I've stayed on the east side of downtown around Kensington Market.
I hadn't seen that.
